Editorial Statement Of 'Der Neur Kampf'
Updated: Aug 18
The Position of This Journal: A Forum Grounded in Orthodox Marxism
This journal is founded upon the theoretical legacy of orthodox Marxism as developed by Marx, Engels, and Karl Kautsky. Its purpose is to provide a space for rigorous analysis and theoretical inquiry. It is not the organ of any party or movement; rather, it is an independent journal that prioritises theoretical discussion over factional allegiance.
About the Name of This Journal.
'Der Neur Kampf' that premise of this journal is simply the argument that the struggle of capitalism should take on a new—and yet old-fashioned—form. At the same time, it also borrows terms from ‘Die Neue Zeit’ and ‘Der Kampf’—the theoretical journals of SPD and SDAP(known today as SPÖ), the two heartlands of orthodox Marxism.
An Intention to Publish Internationally
To ensure that its discussions may be shared internationally, this journal adopts English as its primary language of publication. However, this is by no means a subject confined to English‑speaking circles; indeed, the author of this piece is not a native speaker of English.
Editorial Structure: A Provisional Single‑Editor System
At this founding stage, the journal is edited solely by Kainos Anokomes (Interim Editor‑in‑Chief). In the future, contributors and editorial collaborators will be invited, with the aim of expanding the editorial structure as the journal develops.
Principles for Contributions: Theoretical Integrity and Continuity of Debate
Contributions are welcome, provided they adhere to the following principles:
A commitment to theoretical integrity
An understanding of the Marxist tradition
A refusal to engage in personal attacks or partisan propaganda
A respect for the continuity and cumulative nature of theoretical debate
Purpose: To Explore the Conditions of Proletarian Self‑Emancipation
As stated in the founding declaration, the ultimate aim of this journal is to provide the theoretical foundations through which the proletariat may understand its own situation and discover the conditions of its self‑emancipation. To this end, the journal will pursue continuous analysis and discussion of contemporary conditions, disseminate these debates widely, and contribute to their further development.
